Some of my artist friends and I have taken up a bit of pop up sketching in places where you wouldn’t normally think to sketch.

These are three tiny books I made for the the Christmas ornament fundraiser for the Paper Cup Studio in Bellport. It’s a Holiday project I have been working on in between other projects and in between Thanksgiving and holiday shopping. I will also be selling these tiny books through the month. They are roughly 2 in x 2 in bound or origami style books. I used bits and scraps I had around the house. They can actually be used to write or sketch in and you can put them on your tree or display around the house. 

I had a hard time photographing the nocturnal painting since it’s under acrylic and not non-reflective glass….you can see the lamp and such reflected in the lower right hand side but believe me when I say it looks much better in person. My favorite one that I did during the Bermuda Plein Air Event….these are all my paintings done during the event.

#AEDM2015 Day 10 I went to the Grange today in Sayville to sketch and I swear I am being stalked by the St Joe’s Cross Country team….I’ve been to several places this Autumn painting or sketching and they’ve been there at the same place. It was pouring this afternoon and they were still circling as I sketched from the car. I was chuckling to myself as the team kept jogging by that we have to stop meeting like this. It had to be awful jogging in the rain, I was nice and warm listening to Louis Armstrong and Jimmy Durante sketching from the car as they circled around and around. I wonder what they must be thinking when they see me again and again, lol.
  

#AEDM2015 Day 9I started reusing some of the patterned paper so you will probably recognize some of the covers. I am down to one strip of scrap paper left for book making. All of these tiny books have been made out of bits and scraps left over from making the bigger sketchbooks. After these are all done I will be showing what I am doing with them.

  

#AEDM2015 Day 8Yep, more sketchbooks…..I also finally finished a painting I have been working on a long time. I worked on a bunch of smaller books too but they aren’t finished yet.

This pink 5×5 sketchbook was done as a demo.

The remote is in the photo to give you an idea of size and the orange sketchbook was done last week and it shows the variations in size.

#AEDM2015 Day 6….. Yes, these little books have been spawning behind my back while I was painting in the studio. Yes, I have been painting every day but the painting I am working on is for someone and it’s not fair to share it before the recipient sees it.
