“Pug”. What a cutie! I had a loonnnnggg day painting today so breezing through this guy was a breath of fresh air. I hope you like my interpretation. Pugs always make me smile.

I was playing around with stylized horses from old Indian miniature paintings…..I am not trying to do horse portraits, I was just playing with these designs in my sketchbook, letting some ideas hatch. I don’t usually show the ideas that get played with but I thought I’d show these. I have always been drawn to the old ancient depiction of horses when I studied art history in college. I might carry these further along. It cracks me up when the ancient horses have small snake heads and fat bodies. I also love the gigantic Chinese horses in front of the PF Chang’s in Marlton and the mural they have with the fat horses.

Today’s sketches…a tiny horse from Sktchy and a cute dog…..

This is a dog from last evening’s Dog’s Night Out, where they take Shelter Dogs for a ride for people to see them. It’s part of the Empty the Shelters weekend. Residents are welcome to bring their dogs for dogs night out. Anyway, I saw this little guy last night and wanted to sketch him. He is one of the lucky ones who have a family.
