Sketching at Barnes & Noble

Today’s sketch

Working on an involved project so I just had time to do these couple of cheater blind contours.  Blind contour is when you don’t look at a page while you are drawing, which makes drawings look like those wonky Picassos. Cheater blinds mean you can peek a little…these are cheater blinds…..

Home on the range

Buster and Edgar stopped to set up camp for the night. Edgar whipped up some stew while Buster looked for more firewood. Then the two friends sat by the fire and ate their stew in the comfortable silence that comes from being friends for a long long time.

This and that….

I have been a busy bee the past few days!  I have tackled a few projects and sketches and have been too tired to write a blog post.   First, some of you may be curious about an artist’s studio.  I have a small studio.  I wish it was larger but I am just happyContinue reading “This and that….”

Derby hat….

A little little fictional vignette to end the day: “Her hat was all the rage at the Derby this year.  Many younger women squealed with delight.  The audacity!  The brazeness of walking past the “No Pets Allowed” signs.  How did she do it?! How is she able to keep that little kitten still up there?Continue reading “Derby hat….”

Cinco de Mayo

“Gallo, Cinco de Mayo”. Gallo is a pretty amazing restaurant.  You can get a 1/4 rotisserie chicken and salad for 5.99 for lunch.  We were at the restaurant/pub across the street. I think I did a pretty good job dealing with smearing non waterproof ink.  I am not sure if the issue was the inkContinue reading “Cinco de Mayo”

Bella barbershop

I went to Main Street to sketch today.  It was a little nippy so I stayed in the car.  I wanted to sketch something that I drive past all the time but never really stop to study.   It was an easy sketch to do.   I brought it home and my husband looked atContinue reading “Bella barbershop”

Dude, the other guy’s fish was bigger.

I saw this reference photo and laughed.  I had one yesterday where the fish was enormous, yet this fish was smaller, but this guy had the bigger grin….

Sktchy Anniversary

Today is a year from when I first joined Sktchy.  I wanted to celebrate with a bunch of sketches.  I didn’t realize that I was only 32 sketches from 365, a year’s worth.   So today I did a bunch of ATC/ACEO size sketches and I am now at 340.  I wanted to be atContinue reading “Sktchy Anniversary”
