“Tormund Giantsbane”. Ok, I am a GoT fan and this photo was too inspiring to pass up. I left the sunglasses on as a play on Winter is Coming…This sketch was a classic case of making the best of a accident where I pulled the cap off of a fountain pen and a big splat of Noodler’s Bulletproof Ink splashed right on his face. I had to rebuild the highlights of the face and beard but it isn’t what it was before the ink splash and I just made the best of it.

The subject was actually the hands, but sometimes the sketch actually has a mind of it’s own. I did the initial sketch with a twig that fell in the backyard, and India ink. The thing with drawing with twigs is you have no control so you have to make the best of all the happy accidents.

 Usually, first thing in the morning, I pull down a photo from Sktchy and sketch something. This morning, I saw the Weekend Challenge was creating art using hands as your subject. So I sketched my hand with my ball point pen, then used my Sumi ink brush pen to add values. 

So I needed to accomplish a few things today and one of those things was doing 25 drawings of anything, with ink and a dropper. And you only get 2 min to draw each one.  No pen, a dropper and in 2 minutes.  So I am thinking, hmmmm, why don’t I just draw 25 hands sketches?

Then the question was what to do with them after…..no problem.  I dried them on the fence……

Here’s some more food porn from the Breakfast Crawl and two sketches from last night’s Taste of Patchogue…..which, if you were on a diet,was good place to be, because the lines were insane and it was hard to get to the food. Lol.   I sketched the crowd.  The short ribs were my friend Joan’s, which she had set down and we both sketched her meal before she ate it.  It looked good.  I didn’t feel like battling the lines to get my own.
