IFJM Day 24

Yes, Cinderella likes Game of Thrones, but she wasn’t permitted to watch it until she was over 17…..you’ll be surprised to here what other shows she likes😎

April 24,  Yes, it’s finally here!   Game of Thrones Season 6.  And I can watch it as it comes on TV.  I wasn’t permitted to watch it until I was 17.  Some of my friends weren’t either so when we were finally old enough, we had Game of Thrones nights over each other’s houses to catch up on the seasons.  Of course, some of us had to be “counseled” by our parents about some of the more racy episodes.  Seriously?! Some of the movies and videos out there are far worse!  So, today is G of T day.  My grandmother (the artist) said she’ll watch it with me.  Cinderella Grandma freaks out when she hears I’ve been permitted to watch it.  I told her I would wear the darn shoes to Promenade.  She shut up after that and gushed about the shoes.

IFJM Day 23

Ok, this softball diamond is a little lame.  Just ran out of time today….typical teens, sports are just a blip on the screen, the more important stuff, like Proms, are what is important to them.

April 23,  softball game this morning.  We had to travel 45 minutes to get to the other high school but the trip was fun.  We talked both ways, about the Prom.  We won our game and the trip home was more talk about the Prom.  Some of my friends were asking me about my Cinderella shoes and was I going to wear them?  I asked my friends what they thought I should do.  Some thought it was awesome, others, so-so.  I agree, I have mixed feelings about  wearing the shoes, too.  A few of the girls suggested I just wear them to Promenade, where we show off  our gowns before Prom with all of our parents there.   you get pictures, then go to the Prom.  hmmmm, Maybe.

IFJM Day 22

Sometimes the best medicine is conversation….otherwise the sky will always be falling….

April 22,  so it was quiet today at school, girls were discussing prom stuff.  Sally was coordinating the carriage ride, a couple of my friends still need to pick up items for their outfits.  Dad asked if I wanted a poofier skirt for my gown and the dress fitter made a few suggestions for a slip. I am not sure if I want it to be poofy, but I should probably wear a slip.  We also discussed gloves and were they necessary.   In the meantime,  I asked dad how his “date” went.  He said it was ok.  No magic there but it was nice to have coffee with someone.  He said he’ll probably just be friends with the lady.  She really wasn’t his type.   In the meantime, Melissa and Steph have been having meltdowns and constructing all worse case scenarios.  If the idiots would just sit down with their dad, they’d realize they had nothing to worry about.

IFJM DAY 21

Apri 21, Did you ever have one of those days where you felt like the screaming person in that Munch painting? Well, today was that say. First, I found out that Sally’s mom rented a horse and carriage and it will be taking us from Maggie’s, to the Prom location. God I hope it doesn’t have mice for footmen. Then, I went for my fitting and I forgot my shoes, that wasn’t the end of the world, I could try it on again at home. Then, Dad had something to tell us, he was going out on a coffee date with some lady he met. Well, it’s been a few years since my mom passed since my mom passed away and he is deserving of someone. He assured us that it was just a date over coffee. However, Melissa and Stephanie “wigged out.” What a surprise! Stephanie was crying and saying that it was too soon after my mom died (not really) and Melissa was just plain freaking out. (Really?). Girls, sheesh, let the guy out of the house already.

IFJM DAY 20

Transportation to the Prom….ok Sarah, open mouth….insert foot.

April 20,  so again, more cafeteria conversations….Today the girls were discussing how we were getting to the Prom.    Personally, I assumed it would be parental wheels; my Dad’s or Patrick’s.   Maggie, my friend and fellow softball player, is having pictures at her house before the Prom.  Maggie’s house is 5 minutes away from where the Prom is being held.  Some of the girls are talking limo….Others want one of those party buses.  I chimed in with “Why don’t we get a pumpkin and turn it into Cinderella’s carriage?”   Omigod, wrong!  My friend Sally, is asking her mom to look into a horse and carriage!

IFJM DAY 19

Getting closer to the Prom….

April 19,   So, today at lunch, a bunch of the girls were discussing accessories for the Prom and the subject came up with the theme “The Grand Ball” and how debutantes, movie stars, princesses and queens wear tiaras.  I am not sure if I love the idea or totally hate it.  And my dress has gold in it and the majority of tiaras are silver.  So when I got home, I started looking at tiaras on line.  Steph came in and she asked what I was doing so Intold her.  SURPRISE!  She sat down to help me and totally loved the idea.  She even suggested that I talk to Cinderella Grandmom about it.  She thinks that Cinderella Grandmom would love the idea.  I called her and not only did she love the idea, she said she’ll buy it for me.  So I am wearing a tiara to the Prom.

IFJM DAY 18

After Prom plans….

April 18,   Yes!  Our Magic Bands came today!  Dad, in his wisdom, decided that the best way to keep his girls from going to after Prom parties was to take us to Disney World for the weekend after Prom is over. So we go to the Prom, get changed, and we’ll pile in for a family outing.  It’s a good compromise!

IFJM DAY 17

Sunday morning visitors….

April 17,….this morning I heard a noise out in front of the house.  These Sandhill cranes are always hanging around our house.  Dad calls them Curly, Larry and Moe.  Sometimes we open the door and there they are looking in at us.  They eat lizards and stuff so we don’t know what they want from us.  They are pretty friendly.  Today they walked us to the car when we were going out for breakfast.  They looked like they expected something.  Dad said he’ll try to find some worms for them.

IFJM Day 16

Cinderella Sarah’s favorite burgers and fries….she loves Five Guys.  Five Guys is a sure sign your child has graduated from being a kid to an adolescent.  They stop wanting the mass produced burger with the toy and graduate to the hand made patties and fresh potato French fries.   I didn’t take my kids to the mass produced burger places before Five Guys.  They liked Chick Fil A, then when Five Guys showed up….they were hooked.

April 16,   I bet whoever reads these pages is wondering why I am keeping a journal for my Prom month.  It wasn’t my idea, actually.  It was an “assignment” from my artist Grandma, the one who is my Mom’s Mother.  She felt that my mom would want me to have this as a memory someday for my children, especially if one is a girl.  I think it’s because Cinderella Grandmom believes all Cinderellas are special and should keep a diary ( and they are plotting.) ha ha.  Plus it’s a drawing exercise.  My favorite burger and fries are Five Guys.  Yep, we have Five Guys here is Florida!  I love Five Guys.  We’re going there for dinner tonight!

IFJM DAY 15

Woo Hoo..half the way there.  Today we find out that our teen age Cinderella does have a favorite ice cream flavor, or in this case, flavors….

April 15,  TGIF!  I don’t have any practice this weekend.  We won our game today.  My dad was there and after the game he suggested we go to Kilwin’s to get ice cream.  Yes!  We love ice cream at our house and in the non-snowbird season in Florida, you can actually walk in a normally busy place like Kilwin’s and get served immediately.

Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream is one of my favorites.  I also like Chunky Monkey, but we don’t have any Ben & Jerry’s stores around here and sometimes it’s just fun to get that cone and sit by the Port St Lucie River and eat ice cream on a late Spring afternoon.  That’s what’s nice about Florida.  Stuart, Florida is a great place to hang out and we go there a lot.
