Ok, I told the dragonet this morning that he had to wear armor today. The conversation did not go well…

“D – “don’t want to wear armor! It’s too heavy and hot!!

Me – “ Oh for heavens sake, it’s only for about 30 minutes.”

D – “why do I have to wear ARMOR? Why can’t the Little Witch wear it? Who’s idea was this, anyway?

Me – “Jake Parker’s. The guy who invented Inktober. And the Little Witch is at work.”

D – “I wanna flame him!”

Me – “That wouldn’t be nice. Put the armor on and I promise I’ll sketch you quickly!”

D – “30 Minutes! That’s it! Then I’m going to the beach!”

Me – “ok ok! Shush! Let me get this done!”

30 minutes later….

D – “30 minutes are up.”

Me – (stalling) “not yet.”

D – “I was watching the clock! 35 minutes already!” I’m hot!

Me – “Almost done!”

D – “Now?”

Me – “I saw the big lizards out front. You can have them if you give me 2 more minutes!”

D – “(resigned) “ok.”

I finished the sketch. I didn’t need the dragonet for the rest.

He trots out the door toward the big palm trees out front.

Me – (calling after him) “There’s two really big rainbow lizards. Try to not to scorch the palm tree. And don’t eat the anoles!”

D – (from outside) “Uh oh! I ate a little brown one.”

Me – ( sighing) “Ok but don’t eat anymore!”

I hear a screeching ruckus…

Me – “ What was that?!”

D – (while eating) “ I accidentally ate one of those big mouth ( munch) blue birds.”

Me – (head smack, sighing again) “a Blue Jay? Don’t eat any more!“

He never went to the beach. He’s laying out by the pool sleeping in the sun. He ate two Blue Jays.
