Day of the Dead
So I had one more page left in the sketchbook that had all of my Halloween Challenges in it. I was worried that I didn’t have enough pages when it turns out I had one extra. I decided to do a Day of the Dead Memory page for my beloved trio, Chloe, Mack and Cleo.
Cleo was only 5 when she passed in 2020, right before all of the Inktober and October festivities began. She was the black kitty that popped up in my sketches. (She was easy to add…black cat…black ink….easy breezy lol). She was a really tough loss, we found her as a baby.
Chloe went next in the January of 2023. She was a gigantic personality in a tiny package. John, Mack and I mourned her for several months (we got Lucy May 2023 to ease the pain, chasing a puppy around the house will def take your mind off things….) Chloe was only 12 and for a chihuahua, that was young, which made her passing all the worse.
Mack was Chloe’s half brother. We wanted a long coat chihuahua but we liked Chloe’s personality. The breeder did a litter based on what we were asking for and we let our daughter pick out Mack. We got first pick. Mack got his name because he was a little truck lol. Mack was comical and he lived to be 14 1/2. And as predicted by the breeder, he was a “mush” like his dad. Mack’s heart eventually took away his quality of life and we had to say good-bye June of last year.
I know Day of the Dead is normally reserved for human loved ones, but that wouldn’t have fit on a 4×6 page.
Plus, my mom would have liked the pet memorial instead of one for her lol.
