#63 sketching in the car

Sketching from the car this afternoon.  Most of these were in Georgia….once we hit Florida it was a free for all…sheesh….some people should not be driving!   One guy from Missouri was cutting people off so close he nearly caused three accidents and it was in a construction zone.  What a jerk.

It’s a little tough to sketch in a car and there were bumps here and there that created squiggling lines but I managed.  I just kept things simple and used a ball point pen.

#62…..Mack

Mack is our long haired chihuahua who looks like what my husband descibes as a “fluffermuffin.”  As John says, it’s Lento language….  Mack’s father is a long haired Chi and he and Chloe share the same mother, who is a smooth coated Chi…..which makes Mack look like a swiffer duster.  He didn’t quite get the long silky fur that long haired Chihuahuas usually have.

We named him Mack because when he was a puppy, he knocked down doggie gates while getting banged on the head by the gate and kept on moving, like a Mack truck.  Either the thick fur protected him or this is the reason why he’s such an airhead now.

Mack has a barking addiction and he’s failed the 12 step program many times.

He doesn’t like sizzling frying pans and will sit outside in a monsoon until the frying pan goes away.

He’s an attention hog and is very devious about stealing food….just last night my granddaughter came into the house playing with pizza dough that her father gave her to play with (owns an Italian restaurant) and she and Mack ended up in a tug of war with dough being stretched across the kitchen…

Mack burps very loudly and does not like baths or being groomed….an hour after spending 40 bucks to make him look presentable, he’s rolling in something in the back yard and is back to looking scruffy.  John says he’s a pig. I say he’s the Forrest Gump of dogs.

# 61 Sktchy

The nice thing about Sktchy is you can submit your own photos and post the art you created.

For a change of pace, I am doing small potraits of my own dog children.   The nice thing about doing this is I can take risks and try new things.

This is Chloe.  She is our bossy tiny Chihuahua that my husband affectionately calls the “bat, rat, gerbil” aka “Yoda.”  If Chloe had been a boy her name probably would have been Yoda. She is about as athletic as a rock.  However, she does come in the pool with us but says she doesn’t like skinny dipping….she prefers to “chunky dunk.”

And yes, she doesn’t skip meals.  We try not to give her snacks but my father-in-law lives downstairs so I blame him for Chloe’s rubinesque figure.

Today’s Sktchy #56

Today was the cleanup day after the party.  We had to put all the furniture back where it belongs, put away all of the party appliances and unused supplies.   The chair has moved to the living room for now.  We may have to use it once GoT season 7 comes on this Spring.  Maybe we ‘ll throw a GoT party.

Anyway, I did this a little while ago.  I saw this reference photo of a raccoon on someone’s steps and thought his stance was more suited to defending his stash….

So here is “BACK OFF! This is MY trash can!”

Today’s sktchy is sculpture, kinda

“Game of Thrones”. #56

Not a sketch tonight, more of a sculpture… made this chair for my husband’s 60th birthday. It took more time to find the parts than it did to make the chair. I might have to use this chair as a prop for sketch night!  The chair is even  more awesome in person….

Here it is right after we did it….

Billy Joel Concert and today’s Sktchy

Last night, John and I attended the Billy Joel concert at Madison Square Garden.  I haven’t seen ol’ Billy in concert since the early ’80’s.

I managed to do a few sketches which I am happy about.  I used a Pilot Mini fountain pen that had not waterproof ink in it so I had to be careful when applying color.

Lots of fun, didn’t play Captain Jack….bummed about that, he always played it in Philly, but overall, he’s a lot of fun!

Here is today’s Sktchy
