Today’s prompt is square.
I sketched a square on my page and built out the features from there. It was a fun exercise.

I joined this challenge to brush up on my gouache skills. Not that I really need it but when I play with a material for a while, creative things happen. I use two different types of gouache and this one is chalky and you can reactivate it. It handles differently so I like to try pushing media to see what else I can make it do. And if all fails, I pull out the colored pencils and go over the top, lol.
Today’s prompt is “a culture different from my own.” I chose this photo from Sktchy however I suspect it is Chief Joseph so I don’t know who else to credit for this one.
Words cannot express how I feel about how badly the Indigenous peoples of North America and Hawaii were treated. And had badly they are still being treated.

35 days to go! Today’s prompt is “excited.”

Prompt #14 – Fade. I had to get a little creative with this one. I thought of an old polaroid photo and this is what I came up with…

Today’s prompt is “young.”

Yep, I know I went backwards but there is no prompt for Sundays so I’ll use Sundays as make up days. This is the one I did Friday.
The prompt is “long.” Inspiration for this photo came from the Sktchy App.

Day 12? Yup. Day 11 is complete but I was too exhausted to post yesterday. John and I ran out to do a few errands and I had a mishap where I gave my rib cage a good accidental whack because of my flip flops, which pretty much fouled the rest of my day. I am hoping I didn’t break any ribs. I got the sketch completed but pain has a way of clouding your “to do” list. I’ll
Today’s inspiration is “wide eyed.” The reference photo is from the Sktchy app where people from around the world post their photos in the hopes that an artist will use it. I’ve held on to this one in my queue for a while.
This sketch was painted in my homemade sketchbook using gouache on Stonehenge toned paper.

I still have to post yesterday’s “sad” face, which was put on the back burner because of an unplanned technology replacement.
It is amazing how we have become so dependent on technology that we can’t do without it and when something needs to be replaced, life gets put on hold until the situation is remedied. Even art depends on technology. The very phone I am typing this post on enables the world to see what I did today!
Today’s Friendly Face is a “culture different from my own” and one of my favorite reference photos from Sktchy, Sureka Kasinath.
This is the raw sketch without digital touch ups…

Today’s prompt is “up do.”
This was sketched with pencil and gouache in my homemade sketchbook on Stonehenge paper. This hasn’t been touched up digitally and the reference photo came from the Sktchy app.

Today’s prompt is Vintage.
