Sktchy #94

#sktchy30 Day 4 of 30, Day 94 for 2017…Spaces for art…..many of us started out with small spaces like this chair, to create art. Whether it was our parents kitchen tables, a corner of our childhood rooms, a dining room table…..

As adult women artists, many of us get married; we became moms and then grandmoms….. as our children leave the nest, we graduate to using our children’s former bedrooms as our creative space. For the younger women artists out there, cherish that small space as you work around toys and play dough. The time you have with your children is all too short.

Sketchy #92 – Relax and recharge

Today’s #sktchy30 was about relaxing and recharging your batteries.  There was some good info about how our brains need to recharge and I decided that I will probably start taking Sundays off from posting and technology.  Not sure if I want to start right away or wait until the end of the month.  There are five Sundays in April this year…..I’ll keep you posted.

Today’s sketch was done in my morning pages. I didn’t number it and I think I might upload this one to Procreate to tweak and use for other stuff.  It was inspired by the email that was sent this morning about relaxing and for some reason the hammock popped into my head.  And I found a Sktchy reference photo to go with it….the Karma all fit.

So take the advice and take today off….

A new look, sketches and other fun stuff

Today I did some housekeeping on this blog and I gave it a new look.  I didn’t intend to but I was adding another blog, (more on that in a bit) and one thing led to another.  I added Social Media links and some other things.  If you get a chance let me know what you think.  I’ll probably add more but in the meantime, I changed the template to something a little more feature rich.

“Into the woods…” 9×12 Mixed Media Collage Today’s Sktchy is taking yesterday’s collage to another level.   This took a few steps so in between I was working on the blog.

The new blog I was working on is for International Fake Journal Month (IFJM) in April.  On that blog I will be posting as an alter ego for just the 30 days of April.  Check it out, it’s usually lots of fun.  Last year I was writing as an ancestor of the “real” Cinderella.

You can find the IFJM posts here…..

Lastly, there is a new cupcake place in town.  I did a quick sketch there and enjoyed a cup of coffee.

Sketch night and today’s Sktchy

I am taking Carla Sonheim’s year long inspiration workshop.  Today’s prompt was sandpaper collage….so I did a sketch and I left the hat, scarf and shirt undone….I was going to do all of these items with collage but then I changed my mind.  The background is so “busy” that I needed something less patterned….so I changed to painting the hat and shirts and just left the scarf collaged.

Tonight was also sketch night and the theme was  “toys.”  I did the old Dolly Dingle Doll we had here and the little rubber ducky tucked next to her.

Today’s sketches….

Playing a lot of catch up…..

This is a sketch that I just did at Barnes & Noble and I see that on my haste to move on to something else, I forgot to date this so I will do that now….both subjects were pretty stationary so I was able to easily draw them.

Below is today’s Sktchy….

#87 “Which came first;  the chicken or the cat” I used this inspiration to try out some new stuff in my sketchbook.  I only have a few pages left to finish in this sketchbook before it goes up on the shelf with the others.  This is pen & ink, acrylics and watercolor.

Below are some lettering exercises….I left the napkin on the table at Barnes and Noble….maybe someone will like it or maybe it will get tossed in the trash.

This one with the blue-green watercolor was written with a brush…..

Something from my morning pages…..some more lettering “play.”
