Urban sketching and kitties

I went out with my sketch club this evening and we sketched the Patchogue Carnegie Library. This library was built with grant money from Andrew Carnegie. The library has been moved, restored and is now the Teen Center and teen library.

I enjoy sketching outside so I got the idea to add a kitty to my sketch. I kinda like this idea. It’s like “where’s Waldo” with a cat. This kitty is going to the library to check out a book on native bird species. It’s good to know about your prey.

Casual Kitty

Sometimes the names for these tiny works just pop into my head.

Another Sktchy inspired cat, photo submitted by Melanie McGovern. You can have your cat painted for my mom, too. Just head on over to Sktchy, sign up and start posting photos. The hashtag #ginapleasedrawmycat is a great way to flag it so that I see it!

Jailbird kitty

I take Carla Sonheim’s year long 365 course. Every day she gives us a new prompt. Today’s prompt was a random pick where she picks two words out of a hat. I had to chuckle, today’s random words are cat and bars. At first I sketched a cat behind bars, but then this idea popped into my head.

Here is today’s kitty…..

Fuzzy kitty

Well, we finally opened the pool for the summer and it wasn’t pretty. Not that it’s warm enough to swim but we needed to open it in order to get it running and cleaned. We also spent the evening dragging out lawn furniture and putting the gazebos together. Setting up for summer is such a project. We still have more to bring out but it looks so nice when it’s all done.

Here is today’s kitty, I squeezed it in between the yard work.
