Sketches from this week

Occasionally I like to go out sketching with a group. Since I moved to Florida this past autumn, I haven’t had the chance to get out out to sketch with any local groups. Then the corona virus hit so I guess it will be a while before I do that again. However, all is not lost. My friends at the NYC Urban Sketchers have found a way to sketch virtually so I joined them today on Facebook.

The theme was to pick your dream vacation spot so I chose the French Riviera. Here is my two page spread.

Next, I have two of my morning routine sketches and also, my daily doodles for this week.

Enjoy!

It’s August

My show was up for a month and a half but regretfully, it’s over. It was a lot of fun.

It was on exhibit at the Patchogue Theatre for the Arts. We get a lot of great shows at the Patchogue Theatre. For those of you that didn’t see it, it was whimsical and charming.

Now that it is no longer hanging, I will share some photos of the exhibit. This is the lobby when you first walked into the theatre.

The two end cats are portraits of my mom’s cats. They are 24x 30 and the two middle pieces are 30×40.

On the back wall of the theatre, there 9 other pieces. These were along the corridor to the interior seating of the theatre.

Sadly, I forgot to take a photo of the one in at Roast. I’ll have to see if hubby took a photo of that one.

Spirit Kitty and the Budweiser Clydesdales come to Patchogue

Here is today’s kitty:

This was an exciting day because the Budweiser Clydesdales came to our town! They we here to celebrate 85 years of the repeal of Prohibition. Plus, Blue Point Brewery is getting ready to open at their new location on Main Street. I was lucky (and smart) to get a great spot to do some sketching! I managed some time to do one of the trucks and the big guy right in front of me. It was very exciting to be able to sketch them. The new Blue Point Brewery is behind the truck.

Also, some photos! Main Street was packed from Waverly to just east of the Theater but I knew they were marching all the way to the east end of Main Street and the crowd was surprisingly lean there.

Oh, and today’s Inktober sketch….

Kitty #125

Yes! That is correct! I counted snd recounted a few days ago. I waited for today’s kitty to celebrate! It’s only 2 days short of our village’s 125th anniversary so it couldn’t have been timed better. I chose the Brick House Brewery (BHB) for today’s sketch because they are in the oldest business building in Patchogue, they are one of the oldest breweries on Long Island and they are hosting the joint effort brew “Pop Fizz Clink,” brewed by BHB and Blue Point Brewery, to celebrate the 125th Anniversary of Patchogue.

Kitty strolled by on her way to see if she could hang out in the Hops Garden out back of BHB because pets are permitted, ok, dogs, but kitty thinks she’s a Chihuahua so that counts for her.

Got Milk?

Today was the ribbon cutting grand opening for the Coffee Bean. John and I went over to get coffee and hang out for the festivities. Plus this weekend, Patchogue is celebrating it’s 125th anniversary. So we hung around for that, too.

Kitty made an appearance. She was standing in line for milk.

The Dockmaster

My father-in-law is 89 years old and still works at the local boat ramp. He works because he wants to, it keeps him busy and active.

This is the hut where he spends his working hours. It has A/C for those hot days.

I sketched it this evening when I was out with my local sketch club. Everyone else sketched over by the water…..I was the rebel.
