Beach sketching
I have lots of beach sketches that were done in Florida. I used a pen that was water soluable and a water brush, sometimes things didn’t come out as planned but that’s why we call them Happy Accidents.
Last but not least….
This sketch was the final sketch for this sketchbook. It was a humid day and we found a shady pavilion on the East side of the causeway. I saw this Jeep in front of me with an open hatch and sketched it. They had a lot of stuff in that car. The trash can blockedContinue reading “Last but not least….”
Another sketch from Stuart, FL
Here is another sketch that I did from the waterfront park in Downtown Stuart. It’s blissfully quiet this time of year. I like that there are lots of different types of tropical palms and plants, there were lizards running around, and the ibis who was a little “put out” that we took over the picnicContinue reading “Another sketch from Stuart, FL”
Sailboat
This sailboat was on the south side of the causeway. I liked that it wasn’t moving around, which made it easier to sketch. The sky was doing it’s preparations for the daily thunderstorm. I loved the clouds in Florida. The daily thunderstorms made the sky much more interesting.
After the rain
This sketch was done after a storm was clearing out. The sun was setting and color was just starting to pop before the sun set. I was lucky with the timing of the evening color happening just as I was adding the watercolor. These are the same sail boats that I have been sketching, fromContinue reading “After the rain”
Catching up….
With family life being busy, I haven’t been posting much. I am trying to knock out these post first thing in the morning so they are done for the day. I painted this in my sketchbook last week. I was out with the PALS plein air folks and we went to the Peconic Herb Garden.Continue reading “Catching up….”
This and that….
I have been a busy bee the past few days! I have tackled a few projects and sketches and have been too tired to write a blog post. First, some of you may be curious about an artist’s studio. I have a small studio. I wish it was larger but I am just happyContinue reading “This and that….”
Cinco de Mayo
“Gallo, Cinco de Mayo”. Gallo is a pretty amazing restaurant. You can get a 1/4 rotisserie chicken and salad for 5.99 for lunch. We were at the restaurant/pub across the street. I think I did a pretty good job dealing with smearing non waterproof ink. I am not sure if the issue was the inkContinue reading “Cinco de Mayo”
Bella barbershop
I went to Main Street to sketch today. It was a little nippy so I stayed in the car. I wanted to sketch something that I drive past all the time but never really stop to study. It was an easy sketch to do. I brought it home and my husband looked atContinue reading “Bella barbershop”
