Mixed media Gesso Kitty

This kitty is partially created with recycled paper that I keep in my studio. The recycled paper can be print outs, magazines, old catalogs, junk mail, etc. I can’t fix the planet by myself but I do what I can. The kitty herself is a “recycled” image from a kitty I doodled in one of my sketchbooks.

Delft Blue, Two

Here is my second sketch from yesterday. I looked up and saw this window and decided to sketch it. There were osprey over head so I added them, I think the parents were taking the juvies out for a spin. They were pretty vocal overhead. I love this time of year, ospreys are everywhere and they are so adorable in their nests.

I added the kitty in the window for mom. The sign on the business startled me, though. Serenity Nail’s? No, that apostrophe was not a typo on my part…Why the apostrophe? Did they mean Serenity’s Nails? ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ I changed the TN to a generic number but I left the poor grammar as a conversation piece, lol.

Delft Blue

Today I had to drop off a bunch of paintings for a show/clothesline sale in East Hampton, NY. I rode with a friend and was not prepared to stay out there and sketch. All I had in my handbag was one of my Lamy Safari’s that was filled with blue ink. I picked up a Strathmore packet of postcards and sketched with the blue ink. Hey, sometimes you just have to use whatcha have.

It is a little ironic that I had blue ink and an East End iconic windmill was in front of me in a region that was settled by the Dutch (and English.). I felt like the Dutch Boy ad.

As I said, I made do with what I had on hand. It’s totally unlike me to leave the house without my sketch gear, but I proved the point that there is no excuses why a sketch cannot be done, anywhere, anytime…grab anything and sketch!
