The Patchogue Sketch Club meets at our local library during the dark winter months. We occasionally sketch at a restaurant or other indoor venue in the winter, but the library has become our winter home. The library staff members are very gracious hosts and many of the library’s visitors stop by to see what weContinue reading “Sketching stuffed animals at the library and library Sketch Club display”

Artist pens
Here is a post for members of my sketch club who wanted more info about artist pens. (I am not covering fountain pens because they are a totally different critter and require their own post.). If I post something without visuals, no one will read the post, so enjoy the sketches. 😂 First rule of thumb,Continue reading “Artist pens”
Sketches from this evening’s anatomy sketch night
We had a bunch of real and faux bones and skeletons this evening for sketch night. I sketched the Chihuahua skeleton I found in Target. They look almost like dinosaurs, lol.
Inktober Days 24 through 31
Here is the final week of Inktober 2017 For me, Inktober 2017 was not about being “popular” or creating works of art. I have been busy working on a few things so I haven’t been posting much. However, I have been doing my daily Inktober sketches and posted them on Sktchy….most of them are 5 minute timed sketches done first thing in the morning. Enjoy! This pie is actually day 20.
NYC Urban Sketching at the Dyckman Farmhouse
Today I went into NYC to sketch with the NYC chapter of Urban Sketchers. Today’s sketch outing was a joint venture with the Urban Sketchers of Indonesia to commemorate the Treaty of Breda, where the Dutch traded Manhattan to the English for a monopoly on nutmeg. We are trading sketches with the Indonesians and thisContinue reading “NYC Urban Sketching at the Dyckman Farmhouse”
Inktober sketches Days 6 – 12
I haven’t been posting these daily because I’d rather post them as a group. Most of these Inktober sketches are 5 minute sketches except for the Breakfast Crawl sketch that I snapped a photo of before I added watercolor to it. I start my sketches by checking the Inktober prompt for the day thatContinue reading “Inktober sketches Days 6 – 12”
Breakfast Crawl #5
Yesterday was Patchogue’s 5th Breakfast crawl. I drew my own map of the Breakfast Crawl and submitted it to The Draw and Cook, and it was accepted! You can see the map here: http://www.theydrawandtravel.com/illustrations/10616-breakfast-crawl-5-in-patchogue-new-york John and I bought the 5 ticket crawl so we we only able to sample 5 of the 15 participatingContinue reading “Breakfast Crawl #5”
