Yesterday was such a beautiful day that I had to go out to sketch. I took a ride up to the North Shore of LI to join a group that was painting there. I wanted to mount my little guerrilla box on the tripod but alas, it didn’t come with the tripod adapter mounting plateContinue reading “Sketching out”

Sketching more shoes
I met with my sketch club tonight at the local library. We sketched shoes. Not just any shoes, they had to be fancy dress shoes. We did something different this evening where we had timed 15 minute sessions and then we had to move down 2 chairs to another place. It gave everyone a chanceContinue reading “Sketching more shoes”
Catching up
Lots of stuff to post! Stay tuned. I participated in Sktchy’s Creative Cupid Valentine yesterday where we signed up to sketch someone for Valentine’s Day and someone else sketched a reference photo that we posted, and so on. I was assigned Yang Yi-Ting. Here was yesterday’s Sktchy Valentine of Yang….. I did a test driveContinue reading “Catching up”
Happy Valentine’s Day!
In between making sketchbooks, making Valentine’s Day cards and a multitude of other projects, here is my map for Valentine’s Day, which is also up on They Draw and Travel’s website. My favorite candy is Lore’s Chocolates in Philadelphia. But I love See’s and I like Kilwin’s ice cream (their candy isn’t bad either.) See’sContinue reading “Happy Valentine’s Day!”
Sketching in the city
I was in the city today sketching with the NYC Urban Sketchers. We sketched at the NY Waterway Ferry terminal. There was a ferry that was sitting at the dock. I was able to sketch it because it was just sitting there. The other ferries were careening in and out of the terminal and itContinue reading “Sketching in the city”
Sketch from Wednesday
Good afternoon! Below is a sketch I did with my sketch group this past week. We get together once a week, pick a subject and we bring in those items to sketch. I didn’t get much sketching time this week because I was taking care of some administrative stuff for the group, but I didContinue reading “Sketch from Wednesday”
Getting out to sketch….
Today, I went out with some friends to sketch at a local wildlife refuge. The refuge has many live and stuffed subjects to sketch. It is wayyy to cold to sketch outside so I went into the Nature Center to sketch the taxidermy animals. I sketched this possum and found out that possums can eatContinue reading “Getting out to sketch….”
10th Day of Christmas
Definitely takes more planning when adding more days to the 12 days of Christmas! Also, the two following sketches are from last night’s sketch night. The doll, Brittany, was sketched as one of the Zombie dolls back in November.
Sktchy Secret Santa
The folks at Sktchy had a really neat idea this year. They asked artists to do a Secret Santa art swap. We didn’t know who our Secret Santa was nor did we know what photos they would choose to draw. My Secret Santa recipient, Jeff Smithson, dresses as a clown a lot. Judging by theContinue reading “Sktchy Secret Santa”
Sketch Night sketches
With the days being shorter and colder, our sketch club has been sketching at the local library. Yesterday evening we sketched some holiday plants. I clipped some branches from our holly tree. Someone else brought poinsettias. There was candy and mints (drat, I forgot to bring some of those home for John!) and other goodiesContinue reading “Sketch Night sketches”
