Just hatched this morning, everything was new to Carmella. She looked down at her feet. “Wow, what are those? Can I eat them?“ This is an Artist Trading Card sized art. ATCs are traded between artists and they have to be 2.5 x 3.5 in. I prepped a few ATC sized pieces because I canContinue reading “Carmella”

Sea Hearts, Swan and Duckie
Violet, the tiny sea dragon, doesn’t have wings but longs to fly like her airborne cousins. Swan and Duckie are the best friends ever. Duckie always rides along on Swan’s back because, well, he’s afraid to swim.
Esmerelda and the Pink Diva Bird
Esmerelda is a shy daydreamer who would love to dance ballet with a large ballet troupe and hopes to someday be a prima ballerina. The Pink Diva Bird dreams of singing opera at La Scala in Italy. She practices her scales every day and loves to dress up. These creatures came from sketches done inContinue reading “Esmerelda and the Pink Diva Bird”
Egrets
Plenty of these here in the neighborhood all the time….my faves are the cattle egrets. They chase lawn mowers. You can walk out your front door and find them on your car. And if your driving through interior Florida, the cattle egrets are cattle back riding on the many cows that are grazing on theContinue reading “Egrets”
Christmas Art Countdown Day 14
The prompt is “sing” and every time I see the word “sing,” I think of the New Year’s Eve performance of My Chemical Romance. Maybe we all need to sing, for the WHOLE WORLD. Sing it from the heart, sing for the planet, sing for all species, sing for the whales and the manatees, singContinue reading “Christmas Art Countdown Day 14”
Inktober Day 20 – Double Prompt
There are many lists out there for Inktober. There is the Official Inktober list. Then there is the They Draw and Travel, They Draw and Garden and They Draw and Cook. There is also Drawloween. In my humble opinion, Draw-loween has the best list because it’s a tradition monster list. I think I’ll do DrawloweenContinue reading “Inktober Day 20 – Double Prompt”
Inktober Day 11 – Sanderling
None of the prompts inspired me today but I did take a photo of tbe beach peeps the other evening. There were sanderlings and ruddy turnstones all over and they didn’t seem to mind the humans. The ruddy turnstones would plunk themselves down in the sand next to us. They were adorable. The sanderlings crackContinue reading “Inktober Day 11 – Sanderling”
My two page spread
Here is the two page spread that I submitted for my class and what I previewed in yesterday’s post: One week if class left…. The text is from a story written by Zoe Tucker.
Emmy by the pool
Emmy has a coiled rope wrapped “boing” that we put her on outside. She’s in an screened enclosure so she’s safe from predators. When I go for my morning swim, Emmy talks, chirps, whistles and I mimic her as I am swimming. I sketched this the other day, after my swim. Done digitally on Procreate:
Laughing gulls
These guys nest on the East Coast. They are a summer staple along the New Jersey coastline. Growing up, we went down the Shore every summer and our summer days were filled with laughing gull calls. Note: people from South Jersey and Philadelphia do not call it the “Jersey Shore.” 😱 We call it “downContinue reading “Laughing gulls”
